SAVETARA.com is a website for those
opposed to the routing of the twice-tolled motorway
through the Gabhra (Skryne) Valley in Co. Meath, Ireland.
This website will give information on the history,
literature and archaeology of Tara. Those who require
information on litigation, detailed archaeology and the
campaign abroad in Germany are provided with links to
find what they require.
A majority in favour
Those opposed to this route are not a minority. The only
independent survey on the
issue, carried out by RedC,
showed that 70% of people said that they wanted the road
rerouted out of the Valley.
Transport alternatives
Other transport alternatives were not properly
considered, particularly the re-opening of the existing
railway line. The alternative route to the west would be
closer to Trim and the newly-proposed outer orbital
route. The inclusion of two tolls on the road will push
commuters into the tiny roads in the area to avoid them.
The motorway would end up at the M50 at Blanchardstown to
join the traffic jam that already exists.
History of the campaign
This Website is also intended as a resource for those who
wish to learn about the campaign and its history. It will
include an archive of selected letters to the press,
coverage from Magazines and professional Journals, the
text of Dáil and Senate debates and various
presentations made to Dáil sub-committees such as
the Environment and Transport committees.
