FOUR men involved in the Save Tara Protest last week were
remanded in custody when they refused to accept bail
conditions imposed at Navan District Court.
Seven protestors appeared before Judge John Brophy
charged with public order offences relating to protests
at the M3.
The four who were remanded in custody to appear at Navan
Court again today (Wednesday), were John Fay (56),
Blackfriary, Trim, Daniel Maloney (29), Riverstown,
Kilmessan, Robert Doherty (52), Main Street, West End,
Bundoran, and Andrew Rawlings (32), Dunbeacon, Bantry,
Co. Cork.
All four were charged with failing to comply with the
directions of a garda and interrupting the free passage
of a vehicle on 18th. July.
The charges against John Fay, Robert Doherty and Andrew
Rawlings related to Tara, Lismullin, while the charges
against Daniel Maloney related to Blundelstown.
Fay, Doherty and Rawlings were also charged with
offensive conduct.
Mr. Raymond Finnegan, solicitor, said that all four were
refusing to accept the conditions of bail.
Three others, Muireann Ní Bhrolcháin (40),
58 St. Laurence's Avenue, Maynooth, Carmel Ní
Dhuibheanigh (30), 85 Feile Bhoriomhe, Swords, and
Kathleen Kavanagh (48), 20 Christchurch Place, Dublin 8,
were remanded on bail to today's[25th. July] sitting of
Navan District Court on condition they do not interfere
with or enter onto any construction sites relating to the
M3 or interfere personally or through others with anyone
engaged in the M3 construction project.
Muireann Ní Bhrolcháin and Carmel Ní

a vehicle in a public place, failing to comply with the
directions of a garda and offensive conduct at
Lismullin.
Kathleen Kavanagh is charged with a breach of the peace
at Lismullin.
Judge Brophy told the defendants [who had refused the
Bail conditions] that any of those who decided to accept
the bail conditions in the meantime could apply to him
for release on bail.
He also told Kathleen Kavanagh, who said she had to
travel abroad to visit a sick relative this week, that if
she showed proof of a relative being ill, he would not
revoke her bail.
