New signs on the M3
Dear sir - Some interesting signs have appeared on the N3
between Navan and Dunshaughlin courtesy of Meath Chambers
of Commerce. They are causing a bit of confusion - the
sign for the M3 at Garlow Cross is pointing the wrong
way.
Could it be that those responsible for erecting these
signs have no idea where the proposed road is going? On
the other hand perhaps the arrow is correct. If so they
could be commended for reaching the same conclusion as a
number of consultants during the route selection process,
that the M3 should take the P route to the east.
This debate about the M3 is a serious one. It behoves all
that enter the debate publicly to be informed and act
responsibly. The Chambers could have done the community
and indeed their own credibility a greater service had
they been less partisan and more enlightened in their
statements and actions to date. Just imagine if, having
expressed their concern, they had instead proposed some
sort of open forum to discuss the wider issues and
implications. Could this still be done?
Yours sincerely,
CLAIRE OAKES,
Bellinter,
Navan,
Co. Meath.
