Motorway is no necessary
evil
Fiona Purcell claims that the M3 is a "necessity" for
anyone travelling from Meath to Dublin.
As she writes from Drogheda, I wonder if she is as au
fait with the situation as she thinks. The motorway can
go ahead, and thus magically improve the lives of Meath
residents (they hope) without destroying the Tara/Skryne
valley landscape and archaeology. The word she needs is
"re-route"; that's all that is required. Better routes
were submitted and no rational explanation has yet been
proffered as to why they were rejected.
