Red cents
Sir - Two astonishing and connected news items appeared
in your newspaper over the last few days.
First, Dermot Ahern says that there is not a "red cent"
left to pay for the new hospital destined for Navan
(Irish Independent, April 5th.)
Second, the National Roads Authority paid almost
€120m for the land take of the M3 (Irish
Independent, April 7th.).
This brings the total cost of this ill-conceived project
to over €1bn.
That's a lot of "red cents" Mr. Ahern.
No wonder there's no money for the hospital (or schools
or anything else) in Meath.

Bhrolcháin,

Co. Kildare.
