No world heritage status for Tara

I was fortunate enough to visit Tara when I was in Ireland last March.

I was on a bus tour so only had a very short time to take it in.

Even with that in mind - and the pouring rain - it made a lifelong impression on me. I was blown away by the ability to see and even walk in an area of such historical importance.

Being from Canada, where history is reasonably short, anything of significant age or importance takes on a whole new meaning for me.

I have to travel around the world to see what you and other countries have right in your backyards.

How fabulous for you. I count the time until I can return and see things like Tara again. I read as much as I can on your history. How rich it is.

Having been to other UNESCO World Heritage Sites around the world I truly do not understand why Tara is not on their list of official sites yet.
