Save Tara seeks clarification from Coillte
The Save Tara campaign have written to Coillte, the Minister for the Environment, the Minister for Transport, the National Museum and the National Monument Service asking for immediate clarification of the road/land take for the M3 at Coillte land at Rath Lugh, the Gabhra Valley, Co. Meath.
This morning, Thursday 6th. March, those who are exercising their constitutional right to protest have been served a Trespass Notice by Coillte, asking that they "vacate Coillte property immediately" because Coillte wish to carry out their "works programme".
In the letter Save Tara maintains that there is huge ambiguity regarding the CPO line in this area, between Coillte land and NRA land for the road take.
Dr. Muireann Ní Bhrolcháin said: "We have been trying to get clarification on both the CPO line and indeed the Temporary Preservation Order boundary for a number of weeks. The fact that Coillte serves the notice on the protectors rather than the NRA indicates that the esker and surrounding area are in fact the property of that body rather than part of the CPO land. This means that the protectors are correct in preventing the NRA from encroaching on public land".
The protectors on Rath Lugh said: "We would like to know what is meant by a works programme. Coillte have not managed this forest for 20 years, to plant a cash crop of trees on a National Monument is to desecrate the monument. Coillte has a duty of care to monuments on its land".
